Room 205

Firstly, I apologise for a lack of posts in the last couple of weeks….it has been due to busy schedules and never happening to find something to write about at the right time. None of us wanted this blog to ever be forced but more something we share when we think its something worth sharing. Sometimes we’re lucky and get inspiration everyday, at other times it takes a bit more digging around for, in these times please be patient, we promise it will come.

So….for the last four days room 205 has been home. It’s a nice room, with flowery wallpaper and a real warm feel to it. This feeling of warmth is sometimes difficult to find in hotels, but this place reminded me of my grandparents house, which I happen to associate with warmth.

This hotel was in a tiny little village in the heart of the lake district. I have never been to the lake district, family holidays always seemed to be more the south of England or somewhere on the Mediterranean when i was younger. To be honest I was unsure what to expect, I half expected I would find it too quiet and remote, almost worried I wouldn’t appreciate it. The people I shared this holiday with were veterans of the Lake District and had been kind enough to invite me along, I didn’t want to disappoint.

However these apprehensions were pretty much instantly eradicated. It was not only the most beautiful place I’d seen in England, but one of the most breath taking places I had ever seen. The weather was unpredictable, when the sun shone it was beautiful to see the water glisten but when it rained it added a new charm to the landscape. I was happy and in awe, whatever the weather.

I have never had a ‘favourite place’ and it has always annoyed me that I haven’t. I have always said it’s impossible to have just one place, as it must depend on your mood what your favourite place would be. I don’t agree with this anymore….my favourite place is a tree stump on the shore of Derwentwater. This is the most peaceful I have ever been….
